Baptism
What is the Meaning of Christian Baptism?
Baptism is the outward sign that someone has, through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, been "born again" into the family of God. It's the God-given way to publicly identify with the death and resurrection of Jesus.
As it says in Colossians 2:12:
“For when you were baptised, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.”
Baptism represents the powerful change in your life as you follow Jesus. Romans 6:4 reminds us:
“By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead ... so also we may live a new life!”
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – it shows that you already believe.
Baptism doesn’t “save” you – only your faith in Jesus Christ does that.
Baptism is like a wedding ring – it’s a public sign of the deep commitment in your heart to follow Jesus.
Who Should Be Baptised?
Anyone who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible is clear:
“Those who believed and accepted His message were baptised …” (Acts 2:41)
Baptism is for all who have decided to follow Jesus, just as it says in Acts 8:13: “Simon himself believed and was baptised ...” and in Acts 8:12: “But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News ... they were baptised, both men and women.”
If you’ve made the decision to trust in Christ, full-immersion baptism is your chance to celebrate and share this incredible step of faith!
