What to Expect

Our Sunday service is a great place to explore the Christian faith, and to meet with fellow believers and seekers.

Sundays at 10am

Join us for a welcoming and uplifting service! We sing a mix of modern songs and some cherished hymns that help us express our faith together. We take time to pray together, asking God for help in our own lives and for the world around us. We hear the Bible read and explained, so we can listen to God’s voice speaking to us through it, and see how it connects with our lives today. Most importantly, we do all of this together as a church family, made up of people from all ages and backgrounds. We also have a special program for children that they can join partway through the service.

Sundays at 6:30pm

On the second Sunday of each month, we gather to worship and pray together. It’s a time for us to ask God for His guidance and help in everything we do.

On the fourth Sunday, we focus on supporting our mission partners. We hear updates about their work and pray for them, strengthening our connection with God’s work both locally and around the world. It’s a wonderful way to encourage one another and be encouraged in return.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the church?

We’re located on Burford Street, with the entrance around the corner on Old Essex Road.

What happens in a service?

In each service you'll find:

  • A time of singing together (all the words are displayed on screens), expressing our faith and hope in God.
  • A talk from the Bible showing how God’s Word speaks into our lives.
  • Time to pray (and be prayed for if you'd like)
  • On one Sunday each month we have communion together. A service leader helps guide everyone through what’s happening, and there is no pressure to join in if you don’t want to.
  • Tea and coffee are served after the service  - please stay and get to know us!

How long is the service?

Our Sunday morning gatherings start at 10am and finish around 11:25am. The evening services start at 6.30pm and finish at 7.30pm.

What do I wear?

There’s no set dress code - please wear what you feel most comfortable in.

What about bringing kids?

We love having children in church! They start with their parents for the first 20 minutes of the service where we all enjoy a family-friendly time. After that, they head off to their own groups to continue learning and having fun. (This is optional – if you prefer they can stay in the main service with you). Parents and carers can pick up their little ones from their group at the end of the service.

Is there parking?

Yes, we have a small car park next to the church, with the entrance on Old Essex Road. We reserve these spaces for newcomers, so please feel free to use them if you’re visiting us for the first time!

What about accessibility?

We want everyone to feel welcome at HBC, so we’ve made sure our building is accessible to all. Our entrance has a ramp for easy access, and we also have an accessible toilet. For those with hearing needs, our sanctuary sound system includes a hearing loop.
