Jesus, the almighty God became a lowly servant for us. He promises us a sure and certain hope. Keep this foremost in our minds and thinking.

Immanuel is prophesied and comes to be "God with us". By His presence he is alongside us, empowering us by His Holy Spirit, and "for us" for His purposes even in the storms of life.

Chosen yet challenged. A prayer of David when he hid in a cave to save his life from King Saul. How in prayer he moves from panic to peace and then praise.

Readings from Deuteronomy chapter 6 verses 4 to 5, 10 to 17, Deuteronomy 8 verses 1 to 5 and Matthew chapter 4 verses 1 to 11. Immediately after his baptism Jesus is led to the wilderness and tempted by Satan. As can happen to us, the temptations were to his physical comfort, certainty of sonship and control of his life.

The Good Shepherd. Jesus must be our Lord before he can become our shepherd. We need an ear to listen and feet to follow him. By his leading he gives us: Peace, Protection and Provision. The reading starts with John Chapter 10 before moving on to Psalm 23. Technical difficulties during the service means that recording quality is variable.
