Giuseppe's Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before You conscious of our failings, but boldly as You tell us, knowing that there are no closed doors for us, when we come to You in and through the precious Name of Jesus.
We come today with heavy hearts, some of us locked in isolation, or suffering bereavement and loss, some feeling lonely and sad for the situation of the world.
We long to hear again the words of Jesus whispering through our locked doors of fear and anxiety: “Fear not, I am with you, I give you My peace”. We thank you, Lord Jesus, for living and interceding for us at all times.
Father, it is a privilege to share in that ministry and stand by Jesus, ready to do His will. Please forgive us for the times we ask things as if You were not aware of our needs, but You told us to ask, to seek and knock, and so we lift before You our sick world, knowing full well that You well know about it. In a time when people think so much of this virus around, You want us to be aware that the situation is much worse than that, that we are all going to leave this world one way or another and people do not reflect on that.
Father we pray You may use this sad moment of history as You have done in the past, to touch people’s hearts and turn them to you in their need. As we again approach the Christmas season, for many of us in a different way from what we have been used to, may we discover afresh the real meaning of that coming, its cost, its purpose and all that it achieved.
We lift before You our little ones who don’t understand what is going on; we long for our young people to realize their need of You and the joy of following You at an early age; we pray for any of our families with special needs be it jobs, relationships or illness, may they look to You as the only true source of comfort; and for our elderly, whether sick, suffering, lonely or coming Home, may the presence of Jesus be very real to each of them as they reach the place of perfect rest in Your presence.
And lastly, Father, may we accept and renew the challenge of being sent to a lost world in need of You; as You sent Your Only Son, so keep sending us, Your many sons, into the world to bring the Good News not only and not just of a temporary vaccine for which we keep pleading, but most of all the Good News of eternal life freely given in Jesus.
Amen.
